What is Maalox Anti-Gas (simethicone)?
Simethicone allows gas bubbles in the stomach and intestines to come together more easily,
which allows for easier passage of gas.
Simethicone is used to relieve painful pressure that is caused by excess gas in the stomach
and intestines. This gas may occur in many circumstances, including air swallowing, indigestion,
ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulosis, and after surgery.
Simethicone may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.
What is the most important information I should know about Maalox Anti-Gas (simethicone)?
Do not take more of this medication than is directed.

How should I take Maalox Anti-Gas (simethicone)?
Take simethicone exactly as directed in the package instructions or as directed by your
doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain
them to you.
Swallow the tablets and capsules with a full glass of water.
Chew the chewable tablets thoroughly before swallowing.
Shake the drops well before using them. To make administration easier, the drops can be
mixed with 30 ml (2 tablespoons) of water, infant formula, or another liquid.
Simethicone is usually taken after meals and at bedtime.
Do not take more of this medication than is directed.
Children younger than 2 years of age should not take more than 240 mg of simethicone
in 1 day. Children older than 2 years of age and adults should not take more than 500 mg in 1 day.
Store simethicone at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next
dose, skip the missed dose and take only the next regularly scheduled dose.
What happens if I overdose?
An overdose of simethicone is unlikely to be life threatening. If an overdose is suspected, call
an emergency room or a poison control center for advice.
What should I avoid while taking Maalox Anti-Gas (simethicone)?
There are no restrictions on foods, beverages, or activities while taking simethicone unless
your doctor directs otherwise.
Maalox Anti-Gas (simethicone) side effects
No side effects are known to be associated with the use of simethicone.
Talk to your doctor if you experience any unusual or bothersome side effects.
What other drugs will affect Maalox Anti-Gas (simethicone)?
Tell your doctor and pharmacist that you are taking simethicone if you take any other
